Stay/ The Bell Tent
Glamping bell tent · Broke, Hunter Valley · Sleeps 2
The Bell Tent. Canvas, with a proper bed.

Camping without any of the hard bits.
The Bell Tent stands on its own deck in a paddock all to itself, a long way from anything else on the property and close enough to the brook to watch the water go by. The canvas is heavy and warm. Inside there's a real queen bed with proper linen and an electric blanket, plush rugs underfoot, a couple of comfy chairs, and heating and cooling for whichever end of the year you've arrived in.
Your bathroom isn't in the tent. It's in the dark-timber pod beside it, yours alone for the stay, with a hot shower, a basin and a waterless eco-toilet done well. The pod also holds a kitchen, a breakfast bar and a day bed, and guests tell us they end up spending more time in there than they expected.

The honest list.
Set up to take the friction out of camping without taking out the part you came for. The dark, the canvas, the cold morning, the small ritual of carrying your coffee outside.

"From cooking dinner on the BBQ with the fire crackling in the background, to stargazing at night, this glamping site in Broke was the perfect escape from city life. It was a true dream getaway from the bumper-to-bumper traffic and noise."Tapfuma · June 2026
"The place was exactly as expected, the views were gorgeous and it was extremely peaceful and private. The host was very welcoming and helpful at all times."Ellen · March 2026
"Great for couples. Nice cosy tent with warming AC, then a cool pod with all amenities. Didn't realise we'd use and hang out in the pod as much as we did. All round great stay and would highly recommend for a romantic weekend away."Flynn · August 2025

In a paddock of its own, beside the brook.
From the deck, the view runs across the valley to the Brokenback Range on the western horizon, and the brook flows past close enough to watch. In winter, hot air balloons drift over the farm, and sometimes land on it. On the right night, you can see the stars unreasonably clearly.
2–2.5 hours from Sydney, 1 hour 15 from Newcastle, 15 minutes from Pokolbin's cellar doors. The last stretch of road is dirt, and fine for any car.

The things people ask us.
Anything else, email info@brokeestate.com.au and one of the family will answer.
How far is the drive, and are the roads sealed?
2–2.5 hours from Sydney, 1 hour 15 from Newcastle, 15 minutes from Pokolbin's cellar doors (see what's nearby). The last stretch in is dirt and fine for any car, including low-clearance ones. Drive slowly; there are cattle and kangaroos about.
Is there a minimum stay?
Two nights. Long weekends and holiday periods can carry a three-night minimum; the booking calendar will tell you when.
Where is the bathroom?
In the pod beside the tent, and yours alone for the stay. Hot shower, basin and a waterless eco-toilet, plus a kitchen, breakfast bar and day bed, so it earns its keep well beyond the morning shower.
Can we bring children?
No. The Bell Tent is for adults only: the creek beside the tent is unfenced and there are wombat holes in the paddock. Babies are welcome if you bring your own bedding. The Cottage is the one built for families.
Can we bring the dog?
No pets on any of the stays. It's a working cattle farm, and the dogs are ours. Bella, the border collie in the reviews, takes the greeting side of things seriously, and she's recently been joined by two puppies, Banjo and Bindi.
What's it like in the cold, and in the heat?
The canvas is heavy, both the tent and the pod have heating and cooling, and there's an electric blanket on the bed for the coldest nights. In summer the canvas keeps the worst of the heat out and the airconditioner does the rest.
What's the cancellation policy?
A full refund if you cancel five or more days before arrival, and a 50% refund up to one day before.
What's check-in like?
Self check-in from 3pm, check-out by 11am. We send directions ahead of time and the access details on the morning of your arrival, and we're usually on the farm if you need us.
Is the Bell Tent accessible?
There's uneven paddock ground and two steps up into the tent and the pod, so the Bell Tent isn't wheelchair accessible. Call us on (02) 4088 8883 and we'll give you an honest picture of whether it will suit.
When you book, you book with the family.
No platform, no call centre. Your booking, your questions, and the reply all come from one of the four of us. Email info@brokeestate.com.au or call (02) 4088 8883.
